Scotiabank Staff Bring ‘Bright Smiles’ to Children’s Convalescent Home
Children of the Red Cross Convalescent Home at Durban Backlands were literally given bright smiles when Scotiabank staff from the Carmichael Street Branch conducted a volunteer event under the Scotiabank Community Program.
Titled “Bright Smiles”, the activity taught children the importance of good oral hygiene. Each employee donated items for an oral hygiene kit comprising a toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss. Also, a representative of the Dental School conducted a demonstration on proper brushing techniques for the children.
The smiles got brighter when the children received a donation of mosquito nets from the Bank and snack foods compliments of Geddes Grant.
Through the Scotiabank Community Program, the Bank’s charitable efforts are aimed at being relevant and responsive to the needs of each community at a grassroots level and provide support across the fields of health, arts, education, social services, sports, and the environment.
