Raymond Smith, Country Manager, Scotiabank Guyana
Raymond is a career banker having initially joined Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago in July 1979 as a Management Trainee. He has since held progressively senior roles including Field Auditor, Branch Manager, Sales Leader - Small Business Banking, Assistant General Manager - Lending Services, and his most recent position as District General Manager, Retail and Small Business Banking, where he was responsible for the operations of thirteen branches in Trinidad and Tobago.
A national of Trinidad and Tobago, Raymond was appointed Country Manager of Scotiabank Guyana with effect from March 10, 2015.
As Country Manager – Guyana, Raymond is responsible for developing, communicating and implementing the Bank’s local business strategy, business goals and core values in alignment with Scotiabank’s International Banking and Corporate strategies.
A 1983 graduate of the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Raymond has successfully pursued post graduate programmes in Management and Banking at the Henley Management College and the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
Seugobin (Ravi) Sugrim, Senior Manager Team Lead, Corporate and Commercial Banking Centre, Scotiabank Guyana
Seugobin (Ravi) Sugrim joined Scotiabank in 2016 as a Relationship Manager in the Corporate & Commercial Banking Centre. Since joining the bank he has been instrumental in increasing the unit’s productivity while meeting strict compliance deadlines. His depth of knowledge and experience in banking, both at Scotiabank and at other financial institutions, propelled him to the position of Senior Manager Team Lead in May 2018.
Ravi has the overall responsibility for the growth and profitability of the commercial portfolio in Guyana. His focus on delivering results for our clients significantly contributes to the continued success of the commercial portfolio.
Ravi is bronze level ICCB certified and has a Diploma in Banking and Finance from the University of Guyana.
Adele Farier, Senior Manager, Credit Risk Management, Scotiabank Guyana
Joining the Bank in April 1995, Adele’s career path over the period includes multiple lending and management roles in commercial banking, leading the Bank’s sales and marketing department and now credit risk management.
In September 2009, Adele was appointed as the Senior Manager, Credit Risk Management with responsibility for ensuring the Bank’s portfolio is maintained at an acceptable level of risk, branch support and ensuring well founded and profitable loan growth for the Bank as well as oversight for delinquency and problem loan management.
Adele holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Guyana and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social & Civic Entrepreneurship via Bakke Graduate University, USA.
Quacy Williams, Senior Manager, Service & Support & Projects, Scotiabank Guyana.
Quacy joined the bank in 1996 as the Officer-in-Charge of the bank’s micro finance unit, Scotia Enterprise Centre, and has held progressively senior positions across the bank in Guyana, including roles in Commercial Banking, Retail and Small Business Banking and Operations and Service. Quacy served as an Account Officer in the Commercial Banking Unit from 2002 to 2005, as Assistant Manager Small Business in the Commercial Banking Unit from 2005 to 2008, as Branch Manager for Bartica branch from 2008 to 2012 and as Branch Manager for Parika branch from 2012 to 2014. He was appointed to the position of Senior Manager Service & Support & Projects in 2014.
As the Senior Manager Service & Support & Projects, Quacy is responsible for providing expert operational and service support to the network of branches to ensure quality customer service is delivered and a smooth and efficient operational routine is in place, together with providing project management support for local initiatives.
Quacy has a record of giving back to his community. He was elected to the University of Guyana Students’ Society and served as Junior Vice President from 1993 to 1994 and Senior Vice President from 1994 to 1995. He was the Students’ Representative on the University of Guyana’s Academic Board from 1993 to 1995 and the University of Guyana’s Council from 1994 to 1995. Quacy was the President of the St. Joseph’s High School Old Student Association in 2000 and is currently the Chairperson of his Neighbourhood Development Committee.
Quacy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from University of Guyana in 1995 and a Masters in Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK in 2017.
Karen Gittens, Manager, Monitoring &Testing Scotiabank, Eastern Caribbean Region, and Country Compliance Officer, Scotiabank Guyana .
Karen’s career with Bank started in March 1998 in Retail Credit. She has since held progressively senior roles in Sales and Marketing, Merchant and Cash Management and in Compliance.
Karen plays an integral role as part of the Monitoring and Testing team operating within Scotiabank’s Eastern Caribbean Region and is directly responsible for executing the Bank’s enterprise wide testing program in the Caribbean South Hub for Guyana and Trinidad.
She also has responsibility for leading the AML/CFT Programme throughout the Scotiabank Branch in Guyana.
Karen is a Certified Compliance Specialist and an active member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS). She holds a Masters in Business Administration with the Australia Institute of Business and an associate degree in Banking at the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
