Nafeeza Gaffoor, Country Manager, Scotiabank Guyana
Nafeeza Gaffoor was appointed as Country Head, effective August 22, 2022.
Nafeeza has 22 years of experience with Scotiabank in both our Toronto and Guyana operations, with expertise in Customer Service, Small Business, Sales Leadership, and Branch Management. In 2021, Nafeeza undertook an acting assignment as Country Manager, and the Bank is pleased to confirm her in this role.
As Country Manager, Nafeeza will continue to play a key role in providing strategic direction, leadership and oversight for operations in Guyana. She will work closely with the leadership team to ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are in compliance with local regulations.
Nafeeza holds a Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor's Degree in Law from the University of London.
Seugobin (Ravi) Sugrim, Senior Manager Team Lead, Corporate and Commercial Banking Centre, Scotiabank Guyana
Seugobin (Ravi) Sugrim joined Scotiabank in 2016 as a Relationship Manager in the Corporate & Commercial Banking Centre. Since joining the bank he has been instrumental in increasing the unit’s productivity while meeting strict compliance deadlines. His depth of knowledge and experience in banking, both at Scotiabank and at other financial institutions, propelled him to the position of Senior Manager Team Lead in May 2018.
Ravi has the overall responsibility for the growth and profitability of the commercial portfolio in Guyana. His focus on delivering results for our clients significantly contributes to the continued success of the commercial portfolio.
Ravi is bronze level ICCB certified, has a Diploma in Banking and Finance from the University of Guyana and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Edinburgh Napier University.
Adele Farier, Senior Manager, Credit Risk Management, Scotiabank Guyana
Joining the Bank in April 1995, Adele’s career path over the period includes multiple lending and management roles in commercial banking, leading the Bank’s sales and marketing department and now credit risk management.
In September 2009, Adele was appointed as the Senior Manager, Credit Risk Management with responsibility for ensuring the Bank’s portfolio is maintained at an acceptable level of risk, branch support and ensuring well founded and profitable loan growth for the Bank as well as oversight for delinquency and problem loan management.
Adele holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Guyana and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social & Civic Entrepreneurship via Bakke Graduate University, USA.
Colette Adams, Senior Manager Operations & Administration
Colette began her career at Scotiabank in July, 2013 when she joined the Finance Department. She has since held progressively more senior roles leading to her current appointment in March 2019.
Colette has responsibility for all Corporate Services including, Head Office operations, business continuity and third party vendor relations. Prior to joining Scotiabank Colette worked with the Bank of Guyana for over eighteen years (18) with her last position being that of a Bank Examiner in the Bank Supervision Department.
She holds a BSc in Accountancy from the University of Guyana and is currently pursuing studies with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
Justin Thompson, Senior Manager, Country Management Office, Scotiabank Guyana
Justin joined Scotiabank in February 2020 and was primarily responsible for executing Monitoring & Testing engagements across several markets for the English Caribbean region.
On February 1, 2024, Justin was appointed to the position of Senior Manager within the Country Management Office. In this role, he contributes to the overall success of the Regulatory Management Program by ensuring all deliverables and initiatives are executed in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. This role is also responsible for ensuring that all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Justin’s prior experience within the local banking sector coupled with his experience in Scotiabank and education provides a solid foundation for his success in this Senior Manager capacity.
Justin holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in law and Post Grad in Corporate and Commercial Law. He is also a certified AML Specialist and is an AML certified Associate with Florida Intl. Bankers Association.
