New account opening checklist.

New to Scotia? Here's what you'll need to open your first account with us.

Be sure to walk with the following documents when you visit the branch for your appointment.

A minimum deposit of GYD $10,000 is required for all new accounts.

1. Your identification

 

Minimum of one valid form of ID:

  • National ID card
  • Passport
  • Driver’s License

2. Your proof of address

 

Any one of the following, issued within the last 6 months:

  • Utility bill
  • Current driver’s license 
  • Post-marked correspondence
  • Tenancy agreement (last receipt required if executed more than 6 months)
  • EveryData Guyana Inc. Credit Report 
  • Hire Purchase Agreement/Statement
  • GRA Notice of Assessment (previous year only)
  • Third party confirmation (parents, spouse, relatives etc.) Third party will be required to sign a confirmation letter accompanied by their Proof of address and a clear copy of their Identification

3. Guyana Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)

 

Any one of the following:

  • Current Driver’s License
  • TIN Certificate
  • New machine-readable NIS Card (Guyana)
  • GRA issued documentation

4. Proof of Income

 

If Employed: Please provide one of the following (not older than 3 months):

  • Job Letter (indicating current designation, date of employment, income)
  • Recent pay slip (indicating employer & employee name, income, pay cycle)

If Self Employed:

  • Valid Business registration (if applicable)
  • Financial Projections (1 year for new businesses)
  • Accountant/self-prepared Income & Expenditure Statement
  • Copies of Contracts/Invoices/receipt books aligned with business activity
  • Account statements/financial records from the last 6 months
  • Valid Regulatory Permit/Licenses (if applicable) E.g (Mining, Fuel, Gas Station, Real estate agents, Cargo vessel, Pharmacy & Drug Store, Cinema, Food Restaurant, Importers/Exporters, Lumber dealers, Tourism, Telecommunications etc.)

 Pensioners:

  • Pension Record from Pension Administrator    

Student/Unemployed:

  • Parent/Guardian/Financial Supporter will be required to sign a Letter of support accompanied by their Proof of Income and a clear copy of their Identification

5. Next, make an appointment at your selected branch.

6. Visit the branch on your appointment date with the documents listed in 1-4 above.

7. Collect and pin your card.
